Weekend Wrap-up + NYC!!

Wow what a week...

First I'll go over the goals for this past week (none of which I actually accomplished):
Do at least one workout from 30 Day Shred or Yoga Meltdown a day - Nope
Try to get back on the treadmill every morning - Nope
Log 26 miles on my bike - Not even close
Track points everyday - Stopped on Tuesday
No binges - All except for eating a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's one day and an entire large bag of peanut M&Ms throughout the week... lol
Stay within 29 points each day - yeah right
Drink 2.6 liters of water a day - Uh, no, I didn't drink like I should have yesterday while in NYC, but all the other days this was the one thing I did do right

Goals for this week:
- Accomplish all goals (this is huge considering what last week looked like)
- No more than 29 points a day (I have GOT to get back to a good diet)
- Treadmill or a video workout every morning (I've decided to mix it up a little bit, with the weather getting nicer I'd like to try to get outside and run more, and since I don't want to run twice a day, I'll need to do a video workout that morning instead, and vice versa)
- 30 Day Shred or Yoga Meltdown once a day (what I consider a week always starts on Monday, and though I'd like to start this tonight, but I'm not making any promises)
- Track points everyday
- No binges
- Log 26 miles on my bike (COME ON, I HAVE GOT TO GET THIS IN!!!)
- Drink 2.6 liters of water a day
- Go for a run outside at least two days
- Log 60 activity points

This week I really have to buckle down and get my act together. I quite watching what I was eating on Wednesday. Let me just give you a few examples of the non-foods I consumed this week: nachos and cheese, two hotdogs, four pieces of pizza, a canoli, cheesecake, ice cream, Easter candy (which includes peanut M&Ms, snickers eggs, jelly beans, reese's eggs, etc.), a donut, blintzes (this I ate for breakfast at a diner in NYC yesterday, I've never had them, so I figured I'd try them, and they were freaking delicious!!!), blueberry muffin, two chocolate chip cookies, two sugar cookies... need I go on? This all is on top of the other foods that I ate that aren't exactly healthy, like ranch dressing or bread dipped in olive oil. It was nice to be able to eat whatever I wanted without having to worry about points, but let's go back to that little saying I stole - "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" and boy am I feeling it.

First of all, when I weighed in on Friday, the scale said 166ish. That would have meant that over the course of a week, I gained 8 pounds. There's no possible way I consumed enough calories to gain that much weight, but I know I definitely gained, and I just have to deal with the number and move on. Second of all, I've been SO tired this week. I realize I was up late Wednesday night and had to get up early on Thursday, but ever since then I've been so sleepy. I did sleep on the bus on the way to NYC, and I realize we walked about a million miles throughout the day, and I did sleep on the way home, but then I came home and CRASHED! I'm STILL tired! And you know what? I think it's from my crappy diet lately. I noticed last week that I was more energized than ever, and now with the amount of tiredness I've been feeling, it HAS to be the lack of nutrients I've been consuming. It's amazing what a healthy diet can do for you!!

Speaking of healthy diets, I'm so grateful that I've been eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly for the last couple months. It definitely showed yesterday while we were in NYC. We walked and walked and WALKED, pretty much for twelve hours straight! I bet my activity points and food points would have been about the same yesterday, even with all the crappy food I ate. But afterward, the only thing sore was my feet. And I never got out of breath (and it's not like we were walking leisurely the whole time). My mom kept commenting that it would be amazing for anyone to be overweight in NYC with all the walking you'd have to do while living there, and she really had a good point. The best ways to get around the city would be walking or riding a bike. As a matter of fact there were TONS of people on bikes yesterday! And you know how much I LOVE biking! I'd fit in perfectly there!!! And all the people running in Central Park!!

So, here are some pics of our trip yesterday. I had never been to NYC before, and it was amazing! I could so totally live there. I WISH I lived there! Too bad there are so many things tying me down to where I live now. It was a little different than I thought. When you hear about NYC, you think of homeless people laying on the side of the streets, and prostitutes, and crime, and freaks, and the like. But the entire time, we only saw one person sleeping on the street and none of the other stuff. The people there looked just as normal as the people in my own city. As a matter of fact, they looked nicer than the people in my area. And there definitely weren't the type of people I saw at the Lady Gaga concert the other night! I'm sure there are areas where you see more of those type of things, like in slummy areas and such, but I envisioned seeing them everywhere! Especially the subway. The subway was much cleaner and nicer than I would ever have imagined. I was a little nervous about riding it, but it wasn't bad at all. Just goes to show that you should judge a book by its cover, or believe everything you hear.
There was a 5k going on. I wish I had known, maybe I would have joined in! If you look carefully, you can see the starting line, which was right in the middle of Times Square.

That's my stepdad, mom, sister and I in Central Park. Recognize that fountain? If you don't, watch the beginning of every episode of Friends. Yep, they played in that fountain for the show's beginning credits!

Ok, so it may not have been New Years Eve, but I got a pic of the ball anyways. Someday I really will be there to see the ball drop. I was kind of surprised that it's up there all year long.

Well, if you ever get the chance to visit NYC, GO!! It's awesome!!

Anyways, have a great week everyone! Even if I didn't comment on your posts, I have caught up on reading everyone's! Sounds like most of you are doing well :) Starting today, too, I'm back to responding to all comments on my own blog, so feel free to stop by and say hi!!

You should definitely join me on the two upper body challenges I'm doing! They are six week programs, but take about 30 minutes a week each. You can find the info at http://www.hundredpushups.com/
