Glorious Morning!
It's such a beautiful morning. I must take a second to praise and thank God for a cool breeze, a warm sun and a handsome baby. How could you not love life when you wake up to this every morning! :)
Anyways, so I went grocery shopping last night and bought some healthy foods - fruits, veggies, lean proteins. I also bought some not-so-healthy foods. Being the talented cook that I am, my hubby requested some Lean Cuisine meals (ok, maybe I'm not that great of a cook). I have never really considered frozen 'TV dinners' to be very healthy, or even taste all that great, but he lost a ton of weight several years ago by eating them (and a salad) most nights of the week (at that point he was working weird hours and needed something decent that he could eat during his break since he wasn't home at dinner time). Really it's the same concept as the Jenny Craig diet so I decided to be open to the idea.
This morning I had some oatmeal with a couple scoops of ground flax seed, a dash of skim milk and a sprinkle of blackberries. Talk about heaven in my mouth!
I don't have too much to report today so I'll leave you with this - my son is a man after my own heart! Check it out, gotta love him. :)

Still no scale...
Still no scale. I just haven't been out to get one yet. We were shopping on Sunday, and of course I forgot to look around for one. I did step on my regular scale though. Guess how much I've lost. 0. Zero freaking pounds.
I haven't been eating too bad and I've been working out at least 5 days a week for the last two weeks straight, and not a single pound lost. Seriously? I can't believe it.
Anyways, Sunday I started a post and somehow I didn't save it as a draft and it was erased. I didn't have time to retype it then, so I'll have to summarize it today. I'm bummed. Not only haven't I lost any weight, but my knee is messed up. It's been bothering me since I had the baby, but it really started becoming painful when I started running. I rested for a couple days and then biked and it seemed to feel better. Sunday, I decided to join a friend of mine on a run and I thought I was going to die. I really thought I was going to have to call my husband to come pick me up. It's just a big sharp pain right under my kneecap. I really think it's the joint, and have been trying to take Glucosamine tablets, but even those don't kick in for several months. The only think to ease the pain is Ibprofen, and I really don't like the idea of eating painkillers like they're candy (even after I got home from having the baby via c-section I didn't take the pain medication the doctor sent me with).
Needless to say, I now have a doctor's appointment next Tuesday to get my knee looked at. Hopefully they'll be able to fix it without surgery. I have no idea how that'd be possible, but I'm praying it's nothing serious.
Luckily biking doesn't hurt me at all. Yesterday morning I went on a 20 mile ride. It took about an hour and a half, which put me at an average of 13.6 miles per hour. Not too bad, but definitely needs improved. My goal is to do the 20 miles in an hour. This is very achievable for me. I know it sounds like a lot, but my body is built to bike ride. Some people are built for long distance running, some are built for all those crazy flexible yoga poses - I'm made to bike. That's a part of why I'm so focused on running. It's something that won't come easy and I love challenges.
Well, I'm heading to yoga tonight and then to Walmart (yuck) to buy my scale. Hopefully I'll post a picture of my weigh-in later!

Stupid Scale!!
Well, the good news? I went on a 16 mile bike ride this morning. The bad news? I can't weigh in because my stupid scale is broken.
See, I have a regular scale that I've been using. I can't take pictures of it though unless someone helps me because, well, YOU try bending over on a scale and taking a picture without falling face first! So I drug out my digital scale and realized it wasn't working. I thought it just needed batteries, so I bought some last night. When I put them in this morning, though, it still didn't work. Needless to say I'm going to have to make another trip to Walmart sometime this weekend.
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate going to Walmart? I shit you not (excuse my language) but the Walmart in our area attracts people who would give carnival sideshow freaks a run for their money. Have you ever seen the website peopleofwalmart.com? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those people are from my area. Now I'm not saying I'm 'too good' to go there or anything, but I'd rather go somewhere that doesn't remind me of a three ring circus on crack. I even had a picture, once, where they repaved their parkinglot and spelled 'yield' wrong - they spelled it 'yeild'. I meant to send it to the website but never did.
So on to the good news - I got my dad to do a bike ride with me this morning. Unfortunately the last ride I went on I misjudged the distance and didn't actually go the 17 miles I thought. That time I rode about 15, and this morning we went 16. Still not too bad though. I used an app on my phone to record the distance and time. We kept about a 10 mph pace. That is really good considering my dad has a bum knee and was using my husband's bike which is a bit too small for him. Plus it was his first ride. I used to keep a 14 mph pace before I got pregnant, so that's my goal to get back to. Even with the extra weight, I'm not too far from where I was. I'm definitely built for biking, at least these thunder thighs are good for something!!
Anyways, I'll check back in when I get a new scale. :)

(Found on the website, probably a man in our Walmart)

Weigh-in tomorrow!
Well folks tomorrow is the day - weigh-in. I plan to start posting pictures of my scale again weekly for my weigh-ins. I've been sort of avoiding the scale because I can't stand to see how much I truly weigh. It's hard for me to even realize how big I am. My hubby and I went on a 'date' the other night and I went to put on some pants and ended up having to wear a pair of maternity pants. And the ones that I was going to wear, the ones that are too small, look so big on the hanger. That was a major reality check.
Anyways tonight I had a small NSV (non-scale victory). We had a birthday party and I had the tiniest piece of cake and only one scoop of ice cream. Go me! Especially since I could probably have eaten the entire half gallon of ice cream!
I'm going biking first thing in the morning with my dad. I've almost got him talked into doing the MS 150 with me next year. This cause a small argument with my hubby. To make a long story short, he had kind of an attitude with me that I invited my dad to bike with me rather than him. The problem is I go early in the morning. My hubby sleeps in every morning! It would be hard to drag him out of bed if the house were on fire, let alone to do any physical activity! I couldn't believe he had the nerve to give me a hard time over this. Men - can't live with them, can't get away with killing them. So now I'm going to go biking with him Sunday morning. This ought to be interesting.
It feels good to be back in the blogging world. I've missed the people I used to talk to on a regular basis. Although I'm too busy to write everyday, I do read other blogs that I follow quite often. Shout out goes to Lisa at ind-ME-pendant! Check out her new blog! :)
See ya tomorrow, have a lovely weekend!

Checking In
So, today is day number ten of being back at a good workout routine. Last week, I'm proud to say I went for a walk/jog on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and yesterday. I did yoga last Tuesday and Friday, and I took a step aerobics class on Friday as well. Yesterday, a couple friends and I went on a 17(ish) mile bike ride. It was a slow ride, keeping an average 8 miles an hour pace, but it was a bike ride nonetheless. Today I walk/jogged another four miles! I'm going to yoga class again tonight. My muscled will definitely benefit from the stretching.
I am planning on weighing in this Saturday. I hope to have my digital scale fixed by then, but if not I have a regular scale that I can use. The last two days I haven't done well with my eating, but I'm taking it one step at a time and starting with the working out first. I think after a while my diet will fall into place anyways, especially once I go back to work.
Speaking of which, I'm excited that I don't have to go back until November. I am taking the full twelve weeks of FMLA off, which will put me back to school the week before Thanksgiving. I don't know if that'll make it easier or harder to go back. We will have to see. Until then I have two things to focus on - my baby and my health.
Anyways, that's all I have to report for today! Have a great week everyone!!
